Camping at Anthony Lakes

August 8th -- 10th:

Camping at Anthony Lakes

I am not sure why we agreed to camping again with Tyson but decided to join my family heading up to Anthony Lakes in Oregon for the weekend.  Brent and Jennifer had been to Anthony Lakes Campground in June last year and had plenty of camping spots to choose from after arriving on a Friday evening.  We must have picked a busy weekend because upon arrive at 8:30 pm, there was only one camping spot left and we needed four, one RV spot and three tent spots!  After talking with the camp host, the best option was to split up, Nick and I stayed in the main camp ground and my family headed down to the tent spots near the boat dock.  So needless to say, we started setting up our little spot at 9:30 pm at night and racing against the day light!  Tyson did amazing well, considering he did not sleep in the car and had a busy week.  He was happy as a clam with his Zoo toy, learning lantern, and a large hand full of peach puffs.  After an hour of setting up camp and a little struggle, Nick made us a nice camp fire.  Tyson fell asleep rocking in my arms!  It was all very peaceful until 2 pm, when Tyson woke up screaming, he ended up sleeping with us but only lasted till 5:30 am!  It think it’s safe to say that we were the first ones awake in the campground.   We met up with my family for a yummy French toast, hashbrown, bacon, and sausage breakfast!   Our day was full of fishing, hiking around, and hanging out enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery and air.  The weather was perfect during the day, mid 70’s but pretty chilly at night, low 40’s.

Later that day we went exploring and found Lily Pad Lake.  It was a perfect weather and nice to hike around.  That night we enjoyed a big fire at my parents camp...Tyson was crazy about the s'mores!  He helped me eat all of mine and then lunged into my mom's lap to eat hers.

The next morning, the kids and I went for a walk along the path around the lake.  We didn't go all the way around but it was nice to enjoy the cool mountain air.  Then we spent some time in the canoe...Tyson loved it!  He was making me a little nervous cause he just wanted to touch the water, good thing for the handle on his life jacket!
