Nick surprised me with a weekend trip to Cedar City and Vegas! We departed on Friday after work and flew to Salt Lake then Cedar City, where Jason picked us up at the airport. We head to Ruth and Eric's house for a fun evening of hanging out, drinking (not me), and eating a delicious rib dinner! It has almost been a year since we have seen Ruth and Eric, so it was good to catch up and visit their beautiful home. Shannon was there with little Miss Clare, who had already grown so much in the month since we had seen her. It was a good Friday evening, chillin' with good peeps!
On Saturday morning, I was laying in bed and realized that I could really, really feel the baby move. I had Nick rest his hand on my stomach and he was able to feel him too! We laid there about twenty more minutes just feeling him move around. It was such a cool experience! As we went upstairs, we found Jason and Shannon fixing us yet another gourmet meal . . . asparagus cheese eggs, bacon, and strawberry crepes. Breakfast was a yummy way to start our day! After getting ready, we headed in two cars to Vegas, Nick with Jason and I was with Shannon. We had a great visit and girl talk during on our two and a half hour drive, Shannon was very helpful in giving me some mommy advice.
We drove straight to Jason's work, Papillon Helicopter tours where we were hoping to be able to take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon with Jason as our tour guide. The weather had be rainy and cloudy, so all the morning tours had been canceled. Jason gave us walking tour of the buildings and the hangers. It was neat for me, but I could tell that it was beyond neat for Nick. Amazingly the sun came out and the call was made . . . we were going to be able to go on the flight!
There were two other couples on the tour, but thanks to Jason, we got to sit in the front! Nick was so excited! Just as expected, Jason was an excellent tour guide and pilot! We had a smooth ride out to the canyon. The terrain was rocky and hilly but amazing to see. Since it had rained all morning, it had that beautiful "calm after the storm" look.. We flew over the west end of the Grand Canyon and then landed at a beautiful spot for more breathtaking pictures and a picnic lunch. Jason served up some champagne and little sandwiches. After about a thirty minute stay in the canyon, it was time to head back. Our flight back was gorgeous because the sun was setting. It was such a great experience to fly over and land in the Grand Canyon, all with Jason as our guide!

After our exciting flight we meet up with Shannon for dinner. It was our turn to treat Shannon and Jason, so we went for sushi. I had my typical teriyaki chicken while everyone else enjoyed the yummy sushi!
The next day, Jason had to work while Shannon, Nick, Clare and I drove back to Cedar City. We did get stuck in over an hour and a half traffic jam outside of Vegas, which made the trip seem very long. Finally, we made it to the airport and then after a three hour layover in Salt Lake, we made it back home around 10:00 pm. It was a good weekend with many good memories!
